The Consequences of Oppression

Image
The Fall of the Tyrant: Allah’s Wrath   There is no tyrant in the history of the world who has not faced the consequences of his tyranny. Many tyrants have come and oppressed people through their cruelty. Nimrod, Abu Jahl, Utbah, Shaybah—these all committed tyranny, and they ruled over the world with their oppression. But Allah Almighty humiliated all of them, exposed their true nature, and punished them. Allah has said: "I give them respite, but when I seize, My grasp is very strong, and there is no way to escape from it." Tyranny is such a crime that anyone, whether a Muslim or a non-Muslim, can commit it against anyone else. If a Muslim oppresses a Hindu, or if a pious person oppresses a non-pious person, Allah's help will be with the oppressed. Whether the oppressed is a Muslim or a non-Muslim, Allah never tolerates oppression. Therefore, it is our responsibility to ensure that we never commit injustice or oppression against others. Trust in Allah   Death follows a person, and no one can escape it. Just as death seeks you, similarly, your livelihood (rizq) seeks you. A person will live as long as their sustenance reaches them. But the question is: Why does a Muslim worry so much about their livelihood? A Muslim's tawakkul (trust) is solely placed in Allah. If that problem went away, if that person left my life, my life would be much better!"—this is how we think every day. We imagine, "If something happened, like the bus colliding, then life would be much better." We often tell ourselves, "If only that person or problem went away, life would be beautiful." Or, "If this sorrow went away, everything would be perfect." This is how we usually think—if people changed, if the situation changed, if the environment changed, life would be so much better. But the reality is, all of these things will change one day, but will they truly bring happiness? If we think a little deeper, we will realize that everything is ultimately weak. Allah tells us, "Know that you are weak, weaker than a fly." When Allah says this, we should think—how weak are we really? If we reflect carefully, we will u...
