The Only Path to Success and Peace
If you always keep thinking, "If only this thing was there, I would be happy. If that problem went away, if that person left my life, my life would be much better!"—this is how we think every day. We imagine, "If something happened, like the bus colliding, then life would be much better." We often tell ourselves, "If only that person or problem went away, life would be beautiful." Or, "If this sorrow went away, everything would be perfect."
This is how we usually think—if people changed, if the situation changed, if the environment changed, life would be so much better. But the reality is, all of these things will change one day, but will they truly bring happiness? If we think a little deeper, we will realize that everything is ultimately weak.
Allah tells us, "Know that you are weak, weaker than a fly." When Allah says this, we should think—how weak are we really? If we reflect carefully, we will understand.
Every day, we have many thoughts running in our minds. We are fasting, praying, and trying to focus on our prayers, Alhamdulillah. But apart from that, many thoughts keep circling in our heads—"If only this was there, or if this wasn’t there." For some, it's illness, for others, it's depression, for some it's sorrow, and some may think, "If that person was happy!"—they rush to make others happy.
Some think, "If my father was happy with me, I would be happy." But your father is also just a human. Even if he is happy today, he may not be there tomorrow. What will you do then?
This is how we run after things in this world for our happiness. But Allah says, "They do not give Allah His due respect, surely Allah is powerful and mighty." We are weak, but Allah is powerful.
Allah has taught us that when we run after things or people, we are going in the wrong direction. Everything in this world will eventually end. No matter how much we run after them, they will eventually finish. So, when you seek Allah—who is powerful and mighty—you will become strong.
This doesn’t mean that you cannot seek anything from the world. But we must understand that these things will come and go, but we can never lose Allah.
The failure of human beings is that when they don't get what they want, they forget Allah. They stop praying and lose interest in making Du'a. But if their connection with Allah had been strong from the beginning, they wouldn't have fallen apart during tough times. Just like a tree with strong roots, it doesn’t break in a storm but stands firm. The Quran says, "La ilaha illallah"—this is like a tree whose roots are deep in the earth, and its branches rise up to the sky. This is the strength of faith.
Final Advice:
No matter how much pain or sorrow comes in life, remember—everything is temporary. If we keep running after worldly things or people, we will never find peace. Allah reminds us of our weakness and His strength. When we seek Allah’s pleasure and refuge, our lives truly become strong. So, instead of giving too much importance to the temporary troubles of this world, strengthen your relationship with Allah for true peace in your heart. One day, everything will end, but Allah’s pleasure and our relationship with Him will never end.
